Yes, I need the large print edition. The pew copies are just too hard to read with the standing, kneeling and sitting. Most important though, is the page numbers match, so it's easy to use this book during services.

This is a large print paperback version which makes it easy to read, though not very portable. It is good for home use though not for travel. Of course the text is the traditional pre1979 version which I prefer.

I love reading the lovely words. I think I will have to buy the book also. Need it to be with n my hands.

I bought this for my mother who has MD. She reads her prayer book every night. She had been reading the same prayer book she had as a child, a palm size leather-bound book with print so small she had to read with a magnifying glass. This large print edition was perfect and, to the best of my ability to compare, exactly like the smaller 70 year old version. She no longer needs the magnifying glass.

It's all there, but hard to find. This was one of the first books I bought with my Kindle, but I found that reference books that are not meant to be read pages in sequence cover to cover, do not lend themselves to this format. I would like to have had a searchable index in order to key into specific rites and prayers. Even a page reference from the paper version would have been good.

Well, I can't rate the BCP anything but positive. My only concern was I failed to read the size of the book and it was smaller then I would have liked, the pages are thin, but at the same time feel very "strong." It has the Daily Office and the complete Psalter. If only I had read the dimensions, I am sure I would have opted for a larger addition. If you don't have problems with smaller print, then by all means purchase this copy, you can't be the price. Also the binding it very good, the book while small, lays flat, whch is a really nice in a hardcover book of this size.

I am an inquirer in the Anglican Church, and thrilled to at last own a copy of the Book of Common Prayer. I was initially attracted to this version by its vivid cover. Upon delivery, the book was in pristine condition and much bigger than I anticipated. I admittedly ordered this book on impulse, and had not looked closely enough to notice that it is the 1912 edition, and contains ceremonies and liturgy pertaining to the Church of England as well as the Scottish Episcopal Church.The language is eloquent and graceful, and I was especially moved by the Catechism. I would recommend this for anyone within or interested in the Anglican Church, or any Christian for that matter.

This is a terrific book about how to present yourself and your ideas. This is a small book packed with good nuggets of information. And the book arrived very fast

Witt doesn't break any new ground, but his extensive use of anecdotes and personal experiences brings to life the essentials of persuasion and presentation skills. It's a helpful primer for the beginner and an enjoyable reminder for the more experienced.

I recently attended a conference where the speaker promised a "speed version" of her presentation, "since I'm the only thing between you and lunch!" Suffice to say, nearly 90 minutes and 47 slides later, we were brain-dead and hungry. The good lady, bless her heart, reverted to an all-too-familiar form, "Death by PowerPoint," despite her stated intention not to.Christopher Witt (with Dale Fetherling) has written a bromide for those of us (and who among us would cast the first stone?) inflicting this punishment on our audiences. Witt, a veteran speech coach and consultant, seeks to rein-in the tendency to polish our PowerPoint skills at the expense of communicating our vision and message.Real Leaders Don't Do PowerPoint is intended to get leaders to return to making their thoughts, convictions, vision, and character manifest themselves in what they say, and stop trusting PowerPoint to make their points. Witt says leaders need to be different for the following reasons: 1) leaders speak when a lot is at stake, 2) leaders speak as representatives of their organizations, 3) leaders speak all the time, 4) leaders speak because it's their job, and 5) leaders speak to influence and inspire.Witt gives a modern-day endorsement of Demosthenes, the father of Greek oratory, for his timeless four elements of a great speech: 1) a great person, 2) a noteworthy event, 3) a compelling message, and 4) a masterful delivery. Therefore, he divides his book into four main parts. Part One charges the leader with realizing that he or she is the message and to tailor his or her remarks to identify to the audience who they can become, to influence the way they think and feel, or to inspire them to action. Part Two helps the leader define what her objectives for the speech are - the 5 W's - but also to focus on what he or she wants the audience to take away from the presentation - the WIIFM (what's in it for me?). Part Three shows the leader how to compose a compelling message: a big idea, a clear structure, and telling words. Citing JFK's "Ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country," Witt coaches us to try a similar setup for our key message: "If you take only one idea from my speech, it's this [pause]." He also endorses the K.I.S.S. principle, citing Patrick Henry's "give me liberty or give me death" speech as 6 minutes, Lincoln's Gettysburg Address as 2 minutes, and MLK's "I have a dream" speech as 16 minutes. Leave the audience wanting more of you, not less. Part Four focuses on congruency of delivery - getting your body and your voice to communicate your message. Witt then provides lots of mechanical and presentation tips like using humor and getting effective Q&A from your audience.I found Real Leaders Don't Do PowerPoint to be an easy-to-understand and quick-reading "how-to" for becoming a more effective and compelling communicator. In many circles absorbing attention away from the speaker, and it absolutely does.Unfortunately 99% of the business meetings I attend the "leader" only cares to fill a 50 minute time slot with about 75 slides leaving no time for questions and quickly rushing employees back to work after he/she cramnmed business numbers down the throats of the workforce. We rarely rarely see the speaker since they generally stand or sit behind the audience as though they were in a projector booth and ocassionally they will use their laser pointer on garbled up slides while reading each slide verbatim insulting our intelligence.As a kiddo I look to be entertained by the "leader" and want to hear a great story that they have to tell to tie their messaage and presentation together. It would be fine if they want to use a tiny bit of PowerlessPoint as long as they hit that "B" blankout button to take away attention from the projector hum and screen.This book is definitely has a lot of power points (punny) and takeaways to make us all successful when it's time to "lead from the front."It is a quick read and contains many specifics. Every leader should make it a part of their professional development library.
