Not just a life of Nelson, it puts Nelson's life in context. After Nelson's death, his importance has been twisted, obscured and resurrected. It's an interesting story. If you are looking for his life story, it's in there, and it's well done. The difference is Lambert's analysis of his place in history sums up what is an amazing life with the influence that life continues to have on Britain. Oh, and Emma, Lady Hamilton is there too, but in the background where she belongs.

I don't recommend. Assumes the reader has a pretty good knowledge of the history of the time. Does not give sufficient detail to explain what's going on and his portrayal of Nelson is fawning. The author's portrayal of Nelson as devoted to the letter of the law and to duty could be just as easily interpreted as whining and backstabbing. Even if the book were more thorough, the author has an unusual writing style and his syntax makes for awkward reading.

Thorough overview of Nelson's life and times.

This is a well written book with lots of action and well developed characters.

Prof. Lambert is one of the most lucid and thoughtful naval naval historians alive.

Perhaps an adequate accounting of the naval history of the Napoleonic Wars from the English perspective.But a very poor telling of Admiral Lord Nelson's life unless one is content to be told that the same (paraphrasing without deprecating) "was a great leader" or "impressed his superiors with his extraordinary leadership," or "was by this point widely recognized to be such a great leader that..." So much probably is imagined of Lord Nelson by most who know his name, but this "biography" will tell you little of how he came to be such a man and much less of what it was like to be him.I have read biographies that are bad because they warp history to show us a person who didn't exist. This biography is terrible because it recounts a series of events and tells us nothing of the man behind them.

This is a good look at the life of Nelson. It focuses on his career, rather than his private life, although these aspect are explored. It also looks at his affect on British warfare and as an Icon of his age. I found it to be a little dry in places (Hence the 4 stars), but the battle scenes were genuinely exciting to read and it was fascinating to read about this national hero. Lambert has obviously done his research for this book, and overall the writing style is easy to read and enjoy. If you like this period of history, or want to learn more about Nelson's life then this is a pretty good starting place.Feel free to check out my blog which can be found on my profile page.

With my Instant Pot, making dinner is a lot less stressful. And this cookbook has been an amazing help! Recipes are really easy to follow. And the results are delicious. My favorite is the Cheesy Tuna Penne with Edamame (healthier mac & cheese with texture from the edamame). Harissa Chicken Stew was great, too.

Has recipes for just about everything. Plan on stocking up on onions, low-sodium broth and no-salt-added diced tomatoes. Found a couple dozen recipes that work well for our taste and interest. Some of the recipes don't really need the Instant Pot, but you can cook them there just as well as on the stove, so they *do* work. Highly recommend this cook book. Also, look into using some Morton Light Salt for some of the extremely low salt recipes that could benefit from the added flavor. A quarter teaspoon adds some good flavor and is a total of 290mg and most of the recipes have at least 4-6 servings. So, taking something from 100mg a serving to 175mg a serving is a reasonable compromise to kick the flavor up a notch.

Most pressure cooker books that have so called healthy recipes have either yucky tasting foods or foods that you need to purchase that you probably would not normally purchase. This book has some really great easy to make recipes and are healthy for you to eat! I sure hope there are more of this book perhaps a series would be great!!

After a recent health scare and loss of a loved one to heart disease, we were on the look for heart healthy recipes. Well, several internet searches later, we found many recipes and diets labeled as "heart healthy", but by who?! We opted to trust the American Heart Association and we are glad we did! This book has great recipes!

I would have given this cookbook 5 stars except the directions are in a lighter ink. It is hard to read under low light conditions or in my case older eyes. Wish it was darker. Will try the recipes soon.

Really great recipes inside , using a lot of the ingredients I already had on hand!
