There’s a lot of information in this book, but I can’t help thinking that it’s a little out of date. It’s the first resource I’ve found that does not refer to clay thickness in terms of “cards,” which seems to be used everywhere else. It also discusses both silver and gold clay but omits bronze and copper, which are relatively common nowadays.Another reviewer had commented on the captions for the photos not being clear — what captions? There are a lot of pictures but many of them are not very clear and none of them are large. There are no captions. Sometimes, it’s difficult to determine what the photograph is supposed to show.I suspect that the typos I found throughout the book were introduced when it was converted from a print format to Kindle. It’s a real shame when publishers don’t embrace e-book formats and do a good job with them.I think this book could be greatly improved by an update, better (and larger) phots with captions, and projects that are a bit easier than the crazy difficult challenging ones.

I'm just starting to work with metal clay, and I read this book cover to cover as soon as I got it. It was packed with useful tips and ideas and I'm confident that I'll be off to a good start after reading it. The book has dozens of uses for metal clay that I would never have thought of on my own, but am eager to try. It is also beautifully designed. My only complaint is that some sections are a bit vague. With so many different techniques included, some aren't explained in enough detail. Also, few of the photos are captioned and what they're depicting is sometimes unclear. But despite those problems, I'm glad to have this book. It has really helped me to get started, and I know that I'll refer to it again and again.

This guide is very informative. It is very well written. It is loaded with easy to follow tips. It is a great resource for those interested in working with metal clay.

I purchased this book the same time as "Introduction to Precious Metal Clay" as a supplemental resource. This book approaches other "metal clay" approaches and is valuable in that representation. A great springboard for generating ideas and applications. Understandable and clearly written. I would recommend this book to anyone exploring the metal and precious metal techniques.

As an instructor of metal clay, this book will definitely be recommended to my students as a great overall instruction book.The layout is easy to read and understand and each project has good step-by-step instruction. The book helps everyone from beginner to advanced and is a great reference book.Art Clay Silver was used in this book because that's the brand Jackie uses, but the instructions are the same, regardless of which brand of clay is used. I feel anyone can learn from this book.The spriral binding makes it great to keep by your work station to enable following steps without having to worry about the page flipping and it's also a great size for the work area.

I was disappointed when I started looking at this book. After seeing some of her presentations I thought this would be a go to book. The details are extremely generalized and incomplete, the photos do not show technique or procedure clearly. It was returned

This book is ideal for anyone who is just starting to work with precious metal clay and a great guide for the seasoned metal worker. I haven't worked with PMC for long and found this book of all the books out there that had all the information you would want and need to get started. I highly recommend this book.

I like nothing better than a good horse story. Now nearly penniless, she must sell the family bull but . . . can't. Then comes Black Dane, a wild black stud who adopts her, protecting her from predatory humans who threaten her. She puts out hay for the stallion, who visits her "paddock" daily. She dreams of riding him. She gets help from a nearly stable. And then, mysteriously the "KGB" turn up to capture Louise. Why? Read this book and find out how a horse can thwart the evil wiles of the predecessor to the FSB. You'll need to read the book to its successful conclusion. Good horsey fun.

I felt connected to Louise from the very first pages, rooting for her and her lovely undaunted spirit. So much misfortune that befalls such a young girl, but she takes it all in a stride, her adoptive parents infirmity, even her own decision to sell the best of the farm's possessions, the prize bull. By the time Black Dane enters the scene I could not put this book down. Heartwarming, inspiring, with a beautiful plot that keeps providing unexpected twists and turns, this story left me craving for more.

I wish I had opted for a sample before I bought these 2 as I would have realized they are meant for pre-teens who are unfamiliar with horses but want to read about them.It's a good story but needs some serious proofing, preferably by a horse person.

Louise must be strong and take on an adult role when tragedy strikes her family. As her struggles mount, she finds herself in several very difficult situations and each time a black stallion comes to her rescue. This is a great heart-warming story of a young woman having to grow up too fast and a protective horse helping her along the way. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Louise-Finding Black Dane, is a compelling story of a young woman faced with very adult responsibilities. The author Susan Valentine, has done a great job of creating this story.This book tells an authentic tale of what happens to someone when everything starts to go wrong. The main character must contend with issues such as her mother’s high risk pregnancy, and lack of money.I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

An adorable coming of age story which begins with the heroine in all kinds of trouble. Louise is faced with so many challenges they seem almost insurmountable, but overcoming the odds with her own brand of grit and determination, she succeeds where failure lurks. The turning point for her is finding Black Dane. Is there hope for the future?

I enjoyed this story very much. I love horses and this was a beautifully woven plot. I highly recommend and looking forward to Book 2. Five stars to author Susan Valentine.

A fast-paced and exciting story about the struggles that Louise faces, her connection to the Black Dane, and the mystery of the KGB involvement in her life. Exciting stuff!
