I really like this travel guide. It's really thorough, but just not what I'm looking for in particular. I gave it 4 stars because I was looking for something very specific. It's a great guide! There are maps for each location it describes and a map of the metros. They also included an itinerary if you're short on time but want to see the sites. If it's your first trip to Japan and just want to see the main sites, this is the perfect book.

Book has limited info. Many good places to visit and eat in Tokyo are not mentioned in the book. Search online and get google map directions are much more useful.

Received this today and whilst I'm 6 weeks away from going I quickly discovered after reading this that if you want to book the Studio Ghibli Museum you should do it 3 months in advance! Even though I'm there for 2 weeks there's zero bookings left between now and 8 weeks later! Crazy. Something that this book doesn't tell you are the international prices which you have to do to book this particular museum. To local japanese its 1000 yen as mentioned but in Australia its AU$30 (or US$24) which is twice the price.Amazingly this book simply glosses over major parts of geeky Tokyo like Akihabara taking a total of 2 pages with ZERO pictures! Has a little map & shop information but its completely overlooked. Very disappointing that it caters more towards old people who only care about parks/museums/temples. I do like some of the 'old people' stuff but geez, give the geeks some love! This is Tokyo, not London.Aside from that its packed with useful information about transport, directions & general costs for things but it could use another 50 pages for more photos especially when it talks about 'Sights' and gives descriptions only....WHAT? Sadly Google will have to come to the rescue if you're seriously planning on finding the best scenic tours.The pull out map (which you tear down the dotted line, not rip it out like I initially attempted thinking it was held by glue) is nice but will make you look like a massive tourist but then again I'm not even asian. To avoid getting lost I do recommend a smartphone with Google Maps or even an offlineTokyo map and use the GPS.Bundle this book with the Japanese Phrasebook & Dictionary and you should be prepared for almost anything whilst still travelling light. I also recommend them over the ebook counterparts because there's no potential formatting issues and easier to flick through/hand to other people without worry.

She sets out a broad ethical framework that would apply, she claims, in any culture that prizes individual autonomy. The distinctive aspect of Downie's ethical case is the rigor of her reliance on the idea of individual autonomy. She argues that no limitation whatsoever should be imposed on a mentally competent person's voluntary choice of euthanasia or assisted suicide. Thus, she rejects both the provision in Oregon's law that restricts physician-assisted suicide to people with terminal illnesses and the restriction in Dutch law that permits euthanasia or assisted suicide only for people with "lasting and unbearable suffering" as determined by two independent physicians. Downie correctly observes that these limitations are inconsistent with the underlying logic of the autonomy principle. This illogic in the Oregon and Dutch restrictions on individual choice seems likely to elicit an expansionist impetus toward the ultimate rejection of those restrictions in favor of the generalized right that Downie endorses. Although such a shift may be ethically justified, for the reasons she specifies, it suggests that the apparently limited first steps already taken in Oregon and the Netherlands will not be the last in a slippery slope toward the unlimited right to hastened death that Downie favors. Downie also clearly acknowledges one problem in the arguments for euthanasia and assisted suicide that other advocates have generally been reluctant to admit. Along with these advocates, Downie argues that no logical distinctions can be drawn between the withholding or withdrawal of life-sustaining treatment and physician-assisted death. But she admits that current medical practices involved in the implementation of patients' right to refuse life-sustaining treatment are not demonstrably adequate to ensure that such refusals are fully voluntary and informed. "Much more research must be done," she writes, "as the complexity of competency assessments . . . outstrips our understanding of effective tests for competency." Moreover, she observes, there are currently "no universal or formal agreements" within the medical profession about proper tests to determine decision-making competency, and there is inadequate attention to these issues in the medical school curriculum. This admission is refreshing and important, especially coming from a strong advocate for the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide. Unfortunately, however, Downie does not acknowledge that her well-founded uncertainty about the efficacy of current medical practice in the protection of patients' autonomy should temper her enthusiasm for extending the right to forgo life-prolonging treatments to encompass a right to physician-assisted death. At the least, Downie's own premises should have led her to withhold judgment on the advisability of this extension until we have met the need she identifies for more systematic knowledge about existing practices that she regards as indistinguishable from euthanasia and assisted suicide. Janice Dean is the senior meteorologist for the Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. Dean joined FNC in January of 2004, reporting on some of the biggest weather stories in history such as Hurricane Katrina, and more recently, the Moore and El Reno 2013 tornadoes in Oklahoma. She also led the coverage on FNC of Hurricane Sandy in 2012. I love all of it! It is an extremely well done book to help young children understand a weather condition. This is the second Freddy the Frogcaster book that I purchased for my Grandson who was 3 1/2 when we got it. We live in the South so we don't get much if any snow here but it still helped explain to my Grandson how different states have different weather. He loved it & he can't wait for us to get some snow! Thank You again for another great book Janice Dean & we can hardly wait to get the Hurricane book so that it can help me explain to him about Hurricanes without scaring him.

I purchased this Frog and Blizzard book for a young girl as I felt she would enjoy it; of course. her Mommy will have to read it or her Daddy. With me being a frog collector, I thought it was appropriate! This little girl always asks why I have so many frogs and I tell her. Also, I like the author of these books.

I have bought all the Frogcaster books for my grandchild, Antonio. He absolutely loves them all to include the Big Blizzard. I love the storylines but most importantly, they are very simple and very educational. My grandson will always take them out for us to read, one, two, three, you get the picture! Keep them up, Janice! Also the colors and presentation are out of this world. Well done!

Janice Dean did a great job with her children's weather books. My grandson just loved it.

Now I knew Dianna had been through some things, but this had me feeling so many emotions that I had to take a break. My heart goes out to her, and I can understand why she's the way she is now.Without giving away the story, I'm impressed by her writing abilities and the flow of the book. Had I not gotten emotional I would've finished in about 30 minutes ( I'm a speed reader and read about 700 words per minute). This is an awesome book, and I can't wait for the next one.Dianna if you ever read this, I hope you know that thisbook will definitely be a blessing and a motivation for so many people! Keep pushing forward and building your empire, girl! I have nothing but love and respect for you after reading this.
