I've recently discovered this author and have really enjoyed everyone of his book. I especially like this book. I asked my husband if he ever read the bio on Tim. Once you read his bio you can really understand why his books are rooted in believable scenarios, as his characters and geopolitical locations are spot on. This book is as good as any other overpriced author such as Child and Crais, just get them for much more reasonable pricing. Seeing I read one or two books a week, it adds up, so I am always on the hunt for new thriller writers that are reasonably priced.Tim Tigner is a good find.

This was my first foray into this author. I note that he is quite prolific, so there is ample opportunity to revisit his writings in the future. What I want to say first is this was a well written book. I don’t retell story lines in my reviews. Instead, I report on the following: plot, character development, rising/falling action, anti-climax (where evident), and resolution. I consider that analysis more important than offering a summary, which the author is better at doing than I am as a reader.I measure plot by how well I can recall what is going on in the story line when I’ve put the book down for a time and then picked it back up. When I can recall where I left off without having to re read passages (or pages) that means the story stuck with me. Hence, good plot development. This book had excellent plot development, but with a caveat. The majority of characters were Russian. Hard names to recall (and pronounce), so I did have to refresh on those. But, in fairness, that did not detract from the flow of the story. There is a list of the characters in the beginning of the book and that was helpful.Character development of both the protagonist and antagonist was well fleshed out. I understood their relationship to each (which comes near the end as a twist) and which gave sense to the plot of the read. I have to say that the antagonists were properly very nasty people (which enhanced the anti climax of the story). See below.Rising action was linear in that the story line was continuous from page one to page last, i.e., no “filler” such as where the author was fumbling where next to take the story. But, it was done in “Parts” (e.g., Part I, Part II, etc..) This approach by the author was novel from any prior experience, and it did not adversely affect the flow of the action. It gave the appearance of mini serials to the overall read. Because of that, these serializations led well into the falling actions. The anti-climax was exceptional, It really was. But to expound on it is to fall smack dab into a ***Spoiler Alert***, so that’s all I can say about it. Suffice it to say, read this book and see if you don’t agree. It was that good! The resolution was reasonable and might be an intro to another book. If not. No loss to this story. Since this was my first read of this author, I can’t tell whether such may be the case or not.I well recommend this read as it was a most interesting story. The bio of the author adds to my comment as to that.

Mr. Tigner has done it again - I have downloaded all his books after reading the first one; Coercion is the second, which I have just finished. His writing style and plot structure are brilliant - ,if you have insomnia this is the author for you because you will not be able to put his books down - incredible plots, well drawn character development, and totally relevant to today's world situation. His novels are true thrillers in every sense of the word, and the best I have read in years. Also, great if you are on a diet. Food loses all relevance - you rather just turn to the next page as quickly as possible. M. Pollack

I am in awe of this book. Tim Tigner describes characters, settings, fight scenes, etc. with just the right level of detail. The reader is 100% hooked by nonstop action, and never jolted out of the story by an info dump. Imagery and analogies are used throughout, again sprinkled in just the right amounts, to hook the reader viscerally. Tim must have spent a fair bit of time in Russia to describe the country and its people with such delicate brush strokes. And his knowledge of torturous interrogation techniques, including how to break people psychologically, makes me wonder if he is ex-KGB! So, to sum up, if you want to be utterly hooked, disturbed, thrilled, and transported to different times and places, Coercion is the book for you. Believe me.

Move over David Hagberg/Sean Flannery, Tim Tigner has eclipsed you as a writer of espionage fiction with a Soviet/Russian flavor. We thought that the 'old" Soviet Union was gone with Gorbachev and Peristroika, and now we have former KGB-veteran Vlad Putin running Russia. And US Army and Soviet counter-intelligence veteran, Tim Tigner has written a very believable story of a former Special Forces veteran-turned CIA officer investigating the death of his fraternal twin brother. He travels from the USA to Siberia and kicks butt. But I won't disclose any of the great story elements to make thisa 'spolier" review. But there is enough of a relationship story with a beautiful female Russian physician working to discover the real truth about the suspicious death of her brother at a Russian power plan in the middle-of-nowhere Siberia and protragonist Alex Ferris to attract a female readership. and The "hero" of COERCION is a very remarkable individual. The story is fast-paced. The dialogue is very good. And the actions of Alex Ferris is in keeping with the best of the Special Forces "silent professional" whose motto on their SF crest is "de oppressor liber" - TO LIBERATE THE OPPRESSED. Strong work Tim Tigner. This is my second Tigner thriller, and I am starting BETRAYAL tomorrow. Readers who like Ludlum, Vince Flynn, DeMille, Brian Haig, will love tim Tigner. Strong work.
